Black History Month Intoduction

Why is February such an important month? If you guessed because it is Black History Month, you are correct! This is a time for us to remember all of the men and woman who fought for civil rights and brought our country together regardless of your skin color. During this lesson we will focus on significant people such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King JR as well as important events that occurred in order to accomplish making our country united instead of separated. Because of these people and events, we are able to have friends of all different colors, and can have classrooms that are diverse because our diversity and different cultures are what makes us all unique. Take a look around you. How different are you from your classmates and other people that attend your school?
